Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong

The Victoria Harbour has always been Hong Kong's lifeline, its deep but calm waters are suitable for anchorage of large vessels voyaging across oceans, as well as smaller fishing boats seeking shelter from summer typhoons and winter monsoons. The natural harbour also forms a birdlife sanctuary where both resident and migratory birds forage for food and stop for rest. It is not at all uncommon to see shorebirds flying between buildings and behind ships, adapted to urban life in Hong Kong - whether permanent or transitory - in their own ways, alongside human neighbours.
